At Dragonfly Menopause Care, I recognize that many women today are highly informed about menopause and eager to discuss options like hormone therapy—yet they often encounter outdated advice from their doctors. ***(If any doctors are reading this, please see the next paragraph. I love you and thank you are amazing for all you do— and you do a lot!)*** Menopause is finally “having its day,” with more books, podcasts, and resources available to women than ever before, offering a wealth of empowering information. This rapid surge in menopause education has allowed patients to become well-versed in the latest science, often faster than some physicians can keep up. This gap in menopause care and knowledge inspired me to create Dragonfly Menopause Care, where we bridge the divide with up-to-date, compassionate, and personalized support.

Before I continue, this post isn’t meant to insult physicians whom I love and respect more than I can express. I understand the demands of today’s medical climate, especially for primary care doctors and ObGyns with limited time for family and professional growth. I fully support hard-working physicians facing increasing burnout and limited time for the extensive education needed to stay updated on the evolving standards of menopause care.

In my very first week after opening Dragonfly Menopause Care, I met several women who, despite their knowledge, felt at a loss. They were struggling with (peri)menopausal symptoms like depression, insomnia, weight gain, joint pain, anxiety, and low libido—and knew that safe hormonal options were likely available. Yet many had been told their hormones were “normal” and they did not need hormone therapy or that they were "too young" or “too old” for hormone therapy. When they came to me, we explored a range of options together, and for most, hormone therapy turned out to be an ideal fit. It was deeply rewarding to help these women find a path to feeling like themselves again.

Books like Estrogen Matters and physicians like Dr. Mary Claire Haver, Dr. Corinne Menn, and Dr. Rachel Rubin are now helping women learn more about menopause than ever before. Women are often learning about the latest menopause science faster than their doctors can keep up—something I understand firsthand because I was behind myself.

My perspective changed when I began to experience perimenopause as a patient. At first, I received outdated advice as well and didn’t realize it. Then, a physician friend recommended I read The New Menopause and explore Dr. Haver’s work. It was eye-opening and led me to seek a physician knowledgeable in current menopause care. I eventually found one, but the search took more time than it should have-- and 2 months to get an appointment.

This experience reinforced my belief that women need better access to physicians who are up-to-date on menopause care. This motivated me to open Dragonfly Menopause Care, and I pursued certification through the North American Menopause Society while completing courses taught by leading menopause experts. Now that Dragonfly Menopause Care is open, I’m thrilled to meet amazing women, hear their stories, and offer the support they deserve. Each visit is a joy!

At Dragonfly Menopause Care, we’re not just about hormones. We aim to help improve every aspect of your quality of life, from diet and exercise to mental health, sleep, and sexual health. I would be honored to support you through your menopause journey and beyond.
